Take part in the Normandy Soil Week, from November 29 to December 5!
The quality of our soils is at the heart of many crucial issues: feeding the population, preserving biodiversity, storing carbon, regulating water, and much more. However, our soils, whether agricultural, urban, forested or natural, often remain unknown and insufficiently protected. This is why AFES, RNEST, GIS Sol and RMT Sols et Territoires invite you to take part in the Normandy Soil Week, a unique event open to all, which will be held from November 29 to December 5.
Why take part?
During this week, you will be able to discover how data and information on soils can become real tools to protect them and enhance their potential. Whether you are a farmer, elected official, citizen, teacher, trainer, professional in design offices or local authority agent, this week is an opportunity to mobilize together. We will explore how a better understanding of soils can help us anticipate tomorrow's needs and adopt more sustainable practices.
Don't miss the soil pits!
One of the highlights of this week will be the opening of ten soil pits spread across Normandy. These pits will allow an immersive discovery of soils directly on the ground, to observe and understand their composition, characteristics and unique potential. A valuable educational experience to understand in a concrete way the importance of soils and their role in our environment.
On the program:
- Practical workshops and conferences: Discover how soil data influences management and development decisions.
- Testimonials and feedback: Learn from field stakeholders who already integrate soil data into their practices.
- Interprofessional meetings: Exchange with experts, elected officials, farmers and scientists around local and national initiatives.
- Activities for all ages: Raise awareness among young people about the importance of soils through fun and interactive activities.
The goal: to unite stakeholders from all walks of life around the protection and enhancement of Normandy soils. Every action counts, and soil preservation is everyone's business.
