The PREPSOIL Workshop was designed in order to characterize perception and co-create a common vision of participants concerning Soil health in Sardinia, linked to agrosilvopastoral systems, facing experience and scientific evidence.
On January 14, 2023, a workshop was held in Ca Cuesa de Xàtiva, in the Province of Valencia, Spain. We brought together a broad range of stakeholders, organic farmers, farmers using agro-chemicals, nature lovers, citizens living close by, scientists, policy makers and people from the local and regional government.
“How do we manage our productive forests soil-smart” was the topic of the Swedish “PREPSOIL Regional Soil Needs Workshop” held on May 29th 2023 at the Swedish University for Agricultural Sciences (SLU) at Uppsala.
Peat soil was the topic of the Irish Soil Needs workshop held on June 28th in Tullamore, Ireland. The workshop, organised by Prepsoil project partners Copa-Cogeca and SLU, with the support of the FarmPEAT project, offered valuable insights and discussions on the significance of peat soil management and its cultural importance in Ireland.
On 23 June 2023, representatives of The Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation - State Research Institute IUNG-PIB (Grzegorz Siebielec, Sylwia Siebielec, Karolina Świątek, Artur Łopatka) organized, as part of the PREPSOIL project, a regional needs assessment workshop on the soil management in post-industrial areas. The workshop took place at the Institute for Ecology of Industrial Areas in Katowice.
On May 3rd 2023, the Prepsoil Soil Needs Workshop was held at the Visitor Centre of Soomaa National Park in Estonia. During the workshop, stakeholders from NGOs, science, forestry, state organisations and local communities discussed forestry and other local land-uses (nature protection, tourism, semi-natural grasslands) on peat soils in a regional and national context.
Twenty regional participants from the fields of agriculture, the environment, climate change, land administration, science, farmers, and farmer organizations attended the "PREPSOIL Regional Soil Needs Workshop" on May 26, 2023. Participants talked about the Brandenburg region's future soil health, major agricultural threats, and farming techniques that could support high-tech agriculture. We further identified the possibilities for future collaboration in Living Labs.
Spring and summer are busy times in agriculture, but thanks to unexpected rains in early April we were able to gather a fantastic group of farmers from East Denmark for a small workshop in Flakkebjerg! We joined forces with the EJP Soil project SoilX, which is searching for ways to mitigate the effects of extreme precipitation and drought made worse by climate change.
On the 25th of April 2023 the first PREPSOIL workshop on regional soil needs in dairy farming took place on the InnoFields of Royal Eijkelkamp in Giesbeek. A diverse group of stakeholders (e.g. policy makers, local farmers, scientists) from the region Arnhem-Nijmegen and the Achterhoek attended to brainstorm about solutions to tackle local environmental problems.
The PREPSOIL Region Soil Needs workshop "Organic Agriculture – Kecskemét (Hungary)", aiming soil needs assessment on the topic combating desertification and drought in Kelő-ér-Dong-ér watershed (A9 region in Hungary), took place on Kujáni Tanya near Kecskemét on the 24th May 2023.
The Agricultural Land in Po Valley – Rimini (Italy) workshop has been promoted by Re Soil Foundation among the activities of the European project PREPSOIL (101070045 — PREPSOIL — HORIZON-MISS-2021-SOIL-01).
The event was taken together with the participation and presentation of another European project: EXCALIBUR (817946 – EXCALIBUR – H2020-SFS-2018-2020).
We are delighted to share an update on the workshop that took place on Wednesday, May 17th. The workshop focused on soil management and the state of soils in Slovenia in general and in the Zasavje region in particular. It took place at Zasavje regional development agency and was attended by approximately 15 participants representing various organizations, including municipalities, public institutes, private actors, and companies.
The PREPSOIL workshop on reforestation at Žďár nad Zázavou took place on May 19, 2023 at the Kafíčko” Coffee House.
Two workshops were arranged in Trøndelag March 27th and 28th in collaboration with the Green Competence Center that is situated in Trøndelag. The events took place at the agricultural high schools Mære and Skjetlein and aimed to identify soil needs and discuss what affects soil health in Trøndelag. A total of 25 participants took part in the workshops; 15 at Skjetlein and 10 at Mære.
