ZUG Community Gardens Association
ZUG Community Gardens Association was created by active locals who wanted to create a community garden in their district in the heart of Hungary's capital. The space that they created is not just a garden for locals, but a real community with events, with knowledge shareing and with a common spirit.
Description
A group of Zugló (XIV. district of Budapest) residents decided that they wanted to create a community garden in their district. In the autumn of 2012, they established the ZUG Community, and on 1 February 2013, they founded the ZUG Civil Society for Zugló Community Gardens. On 13 June 2013, the ZUG Community Gardens Association was officially registered.
Their aim is to create an urban green space, together with the residents of Zugló who wish to join them, where local residents can grow vegetables and fruit for themselves, and which also functions as a community space, hosting a variety of events and meetings, thus strengthening the cohesion of the local community.
