Description

The Food Forest in Landås is a commons and a demonstration garden for regenerative growing methods. The garden is beautifully situated in the southern slope of mount Ulriken, and is built by a community of volunteers. It is open for all and part of the network “Sustainable lives at Landås” (“Bærekraftige liv på Landås”). The goal of the food forest is to combine good nature management with food production.

Here people come together to cook and to learn about growing food, composting and lots of other topics. The garden’s timber frame bent, built with support from the municipality of Bergen, serves as a community gathering place.

The Food Forest in Landås is part of the project ViBee, that explores opportunities for creating good habitats for pollinators in urban environments. The project has so far found that the Food Forest in Landås seems to be especially rich in pollinator species.
