PREPSOIL Final Event: A parade of Soil Health Initiatives Across Europe
26, May, 2025

The PREPSOIL Final Event is underway this week at the European Committee of the Regions. More than 100 stakeholders registered from across Europe. The event focuses on turning the results of PREPSOIL into concrete action, supporting the implementation of the EU's Mission Soil initiative at regional and local levels.
The event explores how the forthcoming Soil Monitoring Law can be translated into practical tools and strategies for local authorities. Stakeholders from diverse sectors are engaging in discussions on regional soil needs assessments, strategic research planning, and the use of decision-support tools to guide soil management and policy implementation.
Strengthening Regional Innovation
A central theme of the event is the role of Soil Health Living Labs in driving co-creation and innovation. These living labs serve as collaborative spaces where farmers, researchers, policymakers, and civil society work together to develop, test, and scale up sustainable soil solutions. The PREPSOIL project emphasizes the importance of these labs in ensuring that soil health is embedded across policy areas and regional development strategies.
Capacity building is also in focus, with sessions highlighting the need to strengthen skills and knowledge at national and regional levels. Stakeholders discuss the importance of education, training, and cross-sector learning to support the effective rollout of soil health actions across Europe.
A Key Moment for European Soil Policy
With the high number of participants, the PREPSOIL Final Event signals strong momentum for soil health as a shared European priority. By concentrating on the exploitation of project results, the event plays a critical role in bridging the gap between research and action—empowering regions to become active drivers of sustainable soil management.
