SURVEY: Help PREPSOIL partners learn more about soil health knowledge in your country
19, February, 2024
Do you live in Sweden, Denmark, The Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Spain or France and are involved with agricultural soil, forestry or urban soils? PREPSOIL needs your help!
The European Union’s current research and innovation programme, Horizon Europe 2021-2027 created five Missions in support of Commission Priorities. Citizen and stakeholder engagement are key to the success of the EU Missions.
One of the missions, “A soil Deal for Europe”, or Mission Soil aims to restore and conserve healthy soils and is embedded in the wider EU policy frameworks.
One of the projects funded in support of Mission Soil to facilitate across European regions is PREPSOIL which will help key players reduce soil degradation, while increasing soil awareness and soil literacy. As part of these activities, PREPSOIL is conducting a series of surveys targeted at local stakeholders working in different land use cases.
Key stakeholders
PREPSOIL will conduct three surveys aimed at local stakeholders in the seven countries that work with agricultural soil, forestry or urban soils. Examples of these types of stakeholders could be advisors, consultants, farmers, urban planners, park managers, authorities, NGOs, networks, etc.
The surveys aim to gain insight about local stakeholders’ prior knowledge, how the notion of soil health is manifested in their work and how they gain new knowledge about the subject? This is important because Advisors are often seen as important mediators for change towards a more sustainable agriculture at farm level. Hence this task will focus on them, their soil knowledge and soil health awareness. In the public sphere, the key stakeholders are people working with soil related issues at municipal or regional level.
In many parts of the world, farmers have been working with improving soil health at farm level long before the ideas reached the political as well as the advisory system.
Since a couple of years, public and private agricultural advisory organisations have shown an increased interest in soil health matters. However, since there is still no established way of working with soil health – and this is why PREPSOIL needs your help!
Three different surveys
There is a dedicated link for each of the three land use types. It is important that you make sure to follow the link that corresponds to the land use type that you have knowledge about. Looking forward to receiving your updates by 29th February 2024!
